Chorus

Chorus

Where: Downtown Dubai

When: Permanent Installation

At a majestic height of 15 metres, Jaeyho Lee’s Chorus, stands tall in front of Vida Downtown Dubai. Chorus was sculpted using 3.4 tonnes of steel and 7.6 tonnes of wood.

The sculpture draws inspiration from the flow, movement and rhythm of a group of people gathering in one of the main districts in South Korea, the Gwanghwamun Square. Lee assembled the sculpture over five months, taking cues from the inherent dynamism of people coming together.

It is the process of collating the work that makes Chorus exceptional and awe-inspiring. Lee portrays the unique characteristics of each individual element in the group and how they integrate into the shape of the whole structure, while upholding their individual, original qualities.
